The Short Version
Digestion runs on the autonomic nervous system.
Gut motility, secretion, and blood flow are controlled largely by the vagus nerve and the balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic tone. Under sustained stress, that balance shifts, and digestion slows, speeds, or becomes erratic.
Acupuncture is being studied specifically for this: modulating autonomic tone and gut motility. That is why it can help functional complaints where imaging and scopes are clean. It is support alongside your gastroenterologist, never a replacement for a diagnosis.

What patients describe

How we approach it
What a course of care looks like.
Rule in a real diagnosis first
If you have not been worked up, get worked up. Weight loss, bleeding, anemia, vomiting, or new symptoms after fifty go to a physician before they come to us.
Treat the regulation, not the symptom
Points are chosen to influence vagal tone and gut motility rather than to numb discomfort. The aim is for digestion to behave predictably again.
Address the stress loop
Stress worsens gut symptoms, and gut symptoms create stress. Settling the nervous system response is a large part of why patients improve.
Support the basics
Meal timing, fiber, hydration, and a short list of targeted supplements where they are warranted. We keep this simple and specific.
Cost, Insurance and Visits
Digestive Support cost and insurance in The Villages.
What sets the cost
Digestive care is mostly acupuncture, sometimes with a targeted supplement. Acupuncture may be covered by your plan; supplements are priced per product.
Insurance
It depends on the therapy. Acupuncture visits are covered by many insurance plans and we check yours before the first appointment. Shockwave, laser, injections, peptides and NAD+ are self pay, and you will know the price of each before you agree to it.
How many visits
Gut regulation builds over a series, typically weekly for several weeks, then spacing out as symptoms steady.
Your first 20 minute consultation is free, and no referral is needed. Call 352-430-2720. Insurance and payment details.
