NAD+ Therapy
NAD+ is one of the most important molecules in human metabolism. It runs the machinery your cells use to make energy and repair themselves, and it declines as we age. Replenishing it is a way to support energy, clarity, and recovery from the inside out.
How It Works
NAD+, short for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a coenzyme present in every cell. It plays a central role in converting the food you eat into usable energy, and it is essential to the systems that repair DNA and keep mitochondria working.
Levels of NAD+ fall steadily with age. As they drop, cells have less of the resource they rely on for energy production and repair. That decline is linked to the fatigue, slower recovery, and mental fog many people notice over time.
NAD+ therapy replenishes that supply directly. By restoring the raw material your cells use for energy and repair, it supports metabolism, recovery, and cognitive clarity. NAD+ is its own category of treatment, distinct from peptide therapy.
What It Supports
What To Expect
Dr. Cheshire reviews your goals and history to confirm NAD+ is a sensible fit and to set the right approach for you.
NAD+ is not done in our office. We set you up with everything you need to do it yourself at home, on your own schedule.
We show you exactly how, step by step, so you are comfortable self administering. NAD+ works best taken gradually, and we keep the routine easy to follow.
NAD+ often works best as part of a series. We will recommend a schedule based on how you respond and what you are working toward.
Who It Is For
NAD+ is not a stimulant and it is not a quick fix. It supports the machinery your cells use to make energy, which shows up differently depending on what is depleted.
The most common reason patients come in. You are sleeping adequately and still running empty. When bloodwork is unremarkable and thyroid and iron have been ruled out, the problem is often at the cellular level rather than the systemic one.
Word finding, focus, and the sense that thinking takes more effort than it used to. Neurons are metabolically demanding and are among the first tissues to show the effects of declining cellular energy.
NAD+ levels decline substantially with age. Patients frequently describe needing days to recover from activity that once took hours, and this is one of the more responsive applications.
NAD+ is central to how cells convert fuel into usable energy. It is used as part of a broader metabolic plan, often alongside peptide therapy and targeted supplementation, rather than on its own.
Patients who feel well and want to stay ahead of decline. NAD+ is involved in DNA repair and cellular maintenance, which is why it appears in most serious longevity conversations.
Extended stress, heavy travel, illness recovery, or any stretch that has depleted you. Used to help restore a baseline rather than to push past one.
How It Compares
All three exist and they are not equivalent. Here is how we think about it.
Subcutaneous administration you do yourself at home, which bypasses digestion while avoiding the cost, the chair time, and the discomfort of infusions. You are not driving to an appointment to sit for hours, and consistency is far easier to maintain, which is what actually determines results.
Delivers a large dose directly into the bloodstream, but requires long sessions, is considerably more expensive, and is commonly uncomfortable, since infusing NAD+ too quickly produces a distinctly unpleasant flushing sensation. Effective, but hard to sustain as a routine.
Convenient and inexpensive. The limitation is absorption, since much of an oral dose is broken down before it reaches your cells. Reasonable as ongoing maintenance, generally not sufficient when you are meaningfully depleted.
Candidacy
NAD+ therapy tends to make sense when:
What we do first. Fatigue has many causes, and several of them are not cellular. Before recommending NAD+, Dr. Cheshire reviews your history and what has already been ruled out. If something else is more likely to be driving your symptoms, we will say so and point you in that direction rather than selling you a protocol.
