What Is Going On
Nerves starved of what they need.
Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the small nerves furthest from the spine, usually starting in the feet. Whether the driver is diabetes, chemotherapy, medication, low B12, or no identified cause at all, the story at the nerve is similar: the tiny blood vessels that feed it deliver less oxygen and fuel, the nerve fiber falters, and the signals it carries turn into static. Burning, tingling, pins and needles, and eventually numbness.
The standard medications, gabapentin and pregabalin among them, quiet that static in the nervous system. For many people they are worth taking. But they do not change the environment the nerve lives in, which is why the condition tends to progress underneath them.

Dr. Cheshire examines you, reviews your history and medications, and establishes where your neuropathy stands now, so later progress is measured against something real.
Treatment runs as a course
Neuropathy does not respond to a single visit. How often you come in and for how long is set by your case, not a template. Sessions are comfortable, and many patients find them relaxing.
We check against where you started
Less burning at night, easier sleep, and sensation returning where there was numbness are the signs the nerves are responding. We look for them rather than assuming progress.
We tell you the truth
If you are responding, we continue and then taper. If you are not, we say so and help you decide what is next. We do not run out the clock on a plan that is not working.

Insurance

How many visits
Nerve tissue responds slowly, so neuropathy needs a consistent series, often two visits a week for the first several weeks. We set checkpoints so you know early whether it is working.

Neuropathy work is slower and gentler than orthopedic treatment. You rest on the table while the needles are retained, often with laser or LED on the feet at the same time. Most patients doze off.
