LED Therapy
LED therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near infrared light to support the cells in your skin and soft tissue. It is gentle, comfortable, and a natural complement to our other recovery treatments.
How It Works
Like laser therapy, LED works through photobiomodulation. Light at specific wavelengths is absorbed by your cells and used to support energy production and repair. The difference is delivery. LED spreads a gentler light across a wider area rather than focusing it on a single point.
Red light is absorbed near the surface, where it supports the cells that produce collagen and helps calm redness and inflammation in the skin. Near infrared light reaches deeper, where it supports circulation and tissue recovery.
Because it is so gentle, LED is an easy addition to a treatment plan and pairs well with microneedling, acupuncture, and laser.
What It Treats
What To Expect
You relax while the LED panel is positioned over the treatment area. There is nothing to feel beyond gentle warmth.
Sessions usually run about ten to twenty minutes. Many patients find it relaxing.
There is nothing to recover from. You return to your day immediately.
LED works best with regular sessions over time. We will suggest a rhythm that fits your goals.
What We Treat
LED therapy delivers different wavelengths to different depths, which is why the same panel can address skin at the surface and inflammation below it.
Red wavelengths reach the dermis and support collagen and elastin production. Over a series, patients typically see improvement in firmness, texture, and overall tone. It is gradual and cumulative rather than dramatic, and it pairs especially well with microneedling.
Blue wavelengths address the bacteria involved in acne, while red calms the surrounding inflammation. For persistent breakouts this is a reasonable option for patients who would rather not start a systemic medication.
We frequently use LED immediately after microneedling to calm redness and support the healing response. It shortens the visible recovery window and improves how the skin settles.
Near infrared light penetrates into muscle and soft tissue, supporting circulation and reducing post exertion soreness. Useful for patients who are active and want a passive recovery tool with no downside.
When discomfort covers a broad region rather than one point, LED's wide coverage is an advantage over a focused laser beam. Good for large areas of the back, shoulders, or legs.
Light supports the cellular activity involved in repair, which can help wounds, surgical sites, and scars mature more cleanly. We coordinate timing with any other care you are receiving.
How It Compares
This is the question we get most, and it deserves a straight answer.
Light therapy works only if enough energy reaches the tissue. Most consumer devices deliver a small fraction of the output of clinical equipment, which is why results are often disappointing even with diligent use. Clinical panels deliver a meaningful dose in a short session.
Specific wavelengths do specific things, and clinical devices are calibrated to deliver them accurately. Many consumer products list wavelengths they do not actually produce at useful intensity.
Which wavelength, how long, how often, and whether light is even the right tool for your concern. An at home device gives you a panel. A clinical visit gives you a plan, and honest feedback about whether it is working.
Home devices are not useless, and we will tell you if yours is worth continuing between visits. But if a mask has not delivered after months, the problem is usually dose, not consistency.
Candidacy
LED therapy is often the right first step when:
Where we take care. We review your medications, since some cause light sensitivity, and we avoid treating directly over an active or suspicious skin lesion until it has been evaluated. Eye protection is always used. LED is among the gentlest treatments we offer, and it is still worth screening properly.
