How It Works

Treating the nervous system and tissue.

Acupuncture places fine needles at precise points in the body. Those points are not mystical. They are locations where a needle can reach nerves, muscle, and connective tissue and produce a measurable physiological response.

That response is the point. Stimulating these areas dampens pain signaling in the nervous system, increases blood flow to the tissue being treated, releases tight muscle, and reduces local inflammation. The same nervous system regulation also helps the body manage digestion, sleep, and stress, which is why acupuncture reaches well beyond pain alone.

Dr. Cheshire has a biochemistry background and 20+ years in The Villages applying these techniques to both orthopedic and whole body conditions. The approach is traditional. The reasoning is clinical.

Three Approaches, One Practice

Not one technique. The right one.

01

Traditional acupuncture

Classical point selection to regulate the whole body, used for digestion, sleep, stress, allergies, and internal balance, not just pain.

02

Orthopedic acupuncture

A focused, modern application for pain and movement, targeting the nerves, muscle, and joints driving a musculoskeletal problem.

03

Dry needling

Direct release of tight trigger points and muscle knots to restore movement and take pressure off irritated tissue.

What It Treats

Pain and movement, and a good deal more.

Pain and movement are where most patients start, and where acupuncture does some of its most reliable work. But the same regulation that calms pain also helps the body manage stress, sleep, digestion, and more.

What To Expect On Your First Visit

No mystery, no surprises.

01

A real conversation

We start by understanding your history, your pain, and what you are trying to get back to doing. This is a clinical intake, not a quick form.

02

A physical assessment

We examine the area, check movement, and identify the tissue and nerves driving the problem so treatment is targeted.

03

Treatment, explained

The needles are very fine and most patients feel little more than a small pinch, if anything. We explain what we are doing and why. Many people find the session deeply relaxing.

04

A plan you understand

We tell you honestly what we expect, how many visits a condition like yours usually takes, and how we will measure progress.
