Functional medicine in The Villages, for people who want a reason, not a refill.
Most of our functional medicine patients arrive with normal labs and a body that is clearly not working right. The job is to find which system is off and do something specific about it.

In short: Functional and integrative medicine in The Villages FL: energy, recovery, inflammation, sleep and metabolic health, with MD oversight. Call 352-430-2720. Most of our functional medicine patients arrive with normal labs and a body that is clearly not working right. The job is to find which system is off and do something specific about it.
Functional medicine is a badly abused phrase. In practice, here, it means three things: we look at systems rather than isolated symptoms, we care about what is measurable, and we do not sell open-ended protocols that never end.
The typical patient is between sixty and eighty, active, and frustrated. Energy that dies at two in the afternoon. Recovery from exercise that takes three days instead of one. Sleep that technically happens but does not restore anything. Aches that move around. Every test came back within range, so nothing was done.
What we work with is the overlap between integrative medicine and real physiology: mitochondrial and cellular energy support through NAD+ therapy, tissue repair signaling through peptide therapy, nervous system and inflammatory regulation through acupuncture, and a short, specific list of supplements rather than a cupboard full. Dr. Thomas Phipps, MD, provides medical oversight; Dr. Christopher Cheshire, MS, AP, LAc, DOM, leads the integrative side.
We will also tell you what we are not. We are not an endocrinology practice, we do not manage complex hormone replacement, and we do not run the enormous speculative lab panels that some functional clinics use as a sales tool. If your problem needs a specialist, the honest answer is the referral.
How functional medicine works at this practice
What we actually address
- Fatigue and afternoon energy collapse that sleep does not fix
- Slow recovery after exercise, activity, or illness
- Chronic low grade inflammation and diffuse aching
- Sleep quality, including waking at 3 AM and not returning to sleep
- Mental clarity, focus, and word-finding complaints
- Metabolic and weight related concerns alongside your physician's care
- Nutrient deficiencies that are actually worth correcting
- Resilience and stress tolerance

Questions people ask first
Is functional medicine covered by insurance?
Generally no.
Do you run lab testing?
We review labs you already have and request specific tests when there is a clear reason. We do not sell large speculative panels.
Will you tell me to stop my medications?
No. Medication decisions belong to the physician who prescribed them. We coordinate rather than override.
Is this the same as seeing a naturopath?
No. This is an integrative medical practice with a board certified acupuncture physician and an MD, at one location in The Villages.
How long before I notice a difference?
Energy-focused treatments like NAD+ are often noticed within a few sessions. Inflammation and recovery changes usually take several weeks.
