Trigger Point and Acupuncture Injections for Leesburg, FL
Trigger point injections near Leesburg, FL come in two kinds. Pain clinics inject a local anesthetic, often with a steroid, and limit how often you can have it. We inject Traumeel, Zeel or Sarapin at the same muscle knots and acupuncture points, without cortisone, so the injection can be repeated as part of a plan. This page names every injectable we use and what each one is for. Performed by a board certified acupuncture physician with a medical doctor on site, about twenty minutes north of Leesburg.

What Is In The Syringe
The injectables, named, and what each one is chosen for.
Most clinics either do not say what they inject or list products without a reason. Dr. Cheshire tells you which one is being used and why before you agree to it.
Zeel, for arthritic joints
Degenerative joint pain in knees, hips, shoulders and hands, where pain returns predictably. The repeatable alternative to cortisone in a joint. Arthritis page.
Sarapin, for nerve pain
A plant-derived agent for sciatica, radiating pain and nerve irritation around a joint or scar. Placed along the irritated nerve, not only where you feel it. Sciatica page.
Traumeel, for soft tissue
Swelling, acute strains and sprains, and the muscle trigger points that keep coming back after dry needling. Injury page.
Spascupreel, for spasm
Muscle cramping and tension that limits movement, most often in the neck, low back and calves.
Gelsemium Comp, for head and neck
Tension headaches and nerve pain in the head and neck, injected at cervical trigger points. Headache page.
Vitamin B12, at acupuncture points
Nerve support and energy, usually inside a neuropathy plan with electroacupuncture and laser. Neuropathy page.
Steroid Shot Or This
Same knot, same point, different drug, different rules.
A standard trigger point injection at a pain clinic is lidocaine, often with a corticosteroid, into a taut band of muscle. It works, and steroid dosing is limited to a few injections a year because of what repeated steroid does to tissue. An acupuncture point injection uses the same placement, found by the same hands-on exam, with a small volume of an anti-inflammatory or regenerative agent instead. The point stays active longer than a dry needle alone, and because nothing in it suppresses repair, it can be part of an ongoing plan.
What the evidence shows, plainly: trigger point injection for myofascial pain is well established, and the injectable itself matters less than the accuracy of the placement. The added agents we use have a long clinical record and a thinner trial record than steroids. We do not claim they cure anything. We use them where acupuncture helps but the relief does not hold between visits, and we measure whether it holds. Full injection therapy page.
What To Expect
An injection visit from Leesburg, start to finish.
Exam, then a decision
Dr. Cheshire examines the problem and tells you whether needling alone will hold or an injectable will hold longer. Many first visits are needling only.
Seconds per point
A fine needle finds the knot or the point, a small volume goes in, a brief sting. One to three points inside an acupuncture visit. You drive home.
Onset in one to three days
Mild soreness the first day, then easing. Relief typically holds two to four weeks at first and lengthens over a series.
Visits every two to four weeks
Spaced out as relief holds. How long it lasts between visits is the measure; if it is not lengthening we change the approach.
