Rotator Cuff Treatment for Stonecrest, FL

"Neck and shoulder pain treatment near me" is searched by someone whose shoulder hurts to reach and whose neck and shoulder blade have been tight for just as long, and who has been told by one office it is the cuff and by another it is the neck. Usually it is both, in a specific order: a worn cuff tendon starts it, the neck, shoulder blade and chest muscles tighten to protect the joint, and after a few months that guarding is half the pain and most of the stiffness. Treat only the tendon and the neck keeps it sore; treat only the neck and the tendon keeps it coming back. Rotator cuff treatment near Stonecrest, FL does both in the same visit: needling for the guarding chain, shockwave, laser and point injections for the tendon, by a board certified acupuncture physician with a medical doctor on site. Twelve to fifteen minutes from the gate.

Shoulder, Neck, Or Both

Three patterns, and the exam that tells them apart.

Every shoulder exam here includes the neck, because the three patterns need three different plans.

The cuff, with the neck guarding it

The most common pattern. Pain on the outside of the shoulder on reaching and at night, with a tight band from the neck to the shoulder blade that aches by evening. Turning the head is fine. Lifting the arm reproduces the shoulder pain, and pressing the upper shoulder blade muscles reproduces the ache. Both get treated: tendon and guarding.

The neck, referring to the shoulder

A pinched nerve or a stiff lower neck joint can send pain over the shoulder and down the arm, sometimes with tingling into the hand. Turning or tilting the head sets it off, lifting the arm often does not, and the cuff tests are clean. That is a neck plan, not a cuff plan, and we say so.

Both, independently

Common after sixty: a worn cuff and a worn neck, each with its own pain. The exam sorts which symptom belongs to which, and the plan treats both, in one visit, rather than sending you to two offices that do not talk.

How We Treat The Chain

Needle the guarding. Rebuild the tendon.

Dry needling is the tool for the guarding layer: the upper trapezius, levator, rhomboids and the chest muscles that have clamped around a sore shoulder are reached directly, which no stretch or rub does, and acupuncture points calm the signalling that keeps the whole quarter feeling fragile. Most Stonecrest patients notice the neck change within two visits. The tendon takes longer. Shockwave delivers acoustic pressure waves into the worn cuff, breaks up the disorganised tissue and any calcific deposit and restarts the remodelling. Low level laser raises cellular energy in the tendon without mechanical stress when the shoulder is too irritable for shockwave. Point injections, not cortisone, support the tendon when it needs more.

The evidence, with its limits: a 2024 review of seventeen randomized trials Source: Xue et al., BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2024 (17 trials, about 1,100 patients), about 1,100 patients with rotator cuff tendinopathy Source: Xue et al., BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2024 (17 trials, about 1,100 patients), found shockwave reduced pain and improved function against control, with the evidence rated limited and stronger for calcific deposits. Needling of the neck and shoulder girdle is one of the better studied uses of acupuncture for pain. We track your own reach, nights and neck. Full rotator cuff page.

What To Expect

What happens at the first rotator cuff treatment visit for Stonecrest patients?

01

Examine both

Dr. Cheshire tests the cuff, the neck and the nerve signs, reads any imaging, and tells you which pattern you have and which symptoms belong to which.

02

Weekly for about six visits

Needling the chain and shockwave on the tendon in one appointment, laser where it fits, injections only if the tendon needs more. Twelve to fifteen minutes from the gate, early slots.

03

Load, and un-guard

A home program for the tendon, and the posture and desk changes that stop the neck re-clamping between visits.

04

Reach, nights and neck as the markers

Then a taper. If the plan is not working we adjust it, or say plainly when imaging or a surgical opinion is the right next step.

How much does rotator cuff treatment cost for Stonecrest patients, and what does insurance cover?

Acupuncture visits

Covered by many insurance plans, and the neck and the shoulder in one visit is one visit, needling included. We check first. Self pay prices before you book.

Shockwave, laser, injections

Self pay per session, shockwave quoted as a series, added only when the exam calls for them.

Medicare

Original Medicare covers acupuncture only for chronic low back pain Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3, not neck or shoulders, and none of shockwave, laser or injections. Some Advantage plans include acupuncture; we confirm yours.

The first 20 minute consultation is free and no referral is needed. Call 352-430-2720. For reference, consumer cost guides put a single acupuncture visit in the United States at roughly $50 to $150, and we quote your own course in writing at the free consultation. Is This You, Stonecrest?

A strong fit when:

  • Your shoulder hurts to reach and your neck and shoulder blade have been tight for as long.
  • One office said cuff and another said neck.
  • Massage eases the neck for a day and the shoulder brings it back.
  • The shoulder wakes you at night.
  • You want one plan from one exam rather than two offices.

A doctor first for sudden weakness after a fall, for pain with numbness or weakness spreading down the arm into the hand, or for a shoulder stiff in every direction. We screen for all three at the consultation.

Common Questions

What do Stonecrest patients ask about rotator cuff treatment?

If turning or tilting the head sets it off and lifting the arm does not, probably. If lifting the arm sets it off and the neck is just tight, it is the cuff with the neck guarding it. The exam tests both.
The neck and shoulder blade muscles clamp around a sore shoulder to protect it. After a few months that guarding is half the pain and it does not release on its own. Dr. Cheshire reviews your medications, including blood thinners, before the first treatment, and anything injectable is supervised by Dr. Phipps, MD.
Yes. Needling the chain and shockwave on the tendon in one appointment, which is one visit for insurance purposes.
The neck, usually within two visits of needling. The tendon takes the series.
Seventeen randomized trials, about 1,100 patients, pooled in 2024: less pain and better function against control, evidence rated limited. Stronger for calcific deposits. Source: Xue et al., BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2024 (17 trials, about 1,100 patients). We state the limits of the evidence as plainly as the results, and measure your own progress from the first visit rather than quoting success rates.
About six, weekly, with home loading between, then a taper as reach, nights and neck improve. Progress is scored against measurements taken at the first visit, and the plan is changed or stopped if the numbers have not moved by the checkpoint.
Acupuncture visits are covered by many plans. Shockwave, laser and injections are self pay, and Medicare covers none of it for neck or shoulders. We confirm before you book. Call 352-430-2720.
