The First Thing Lady Lake Asks

How much does shockwave therapy cost for Lady Lake patients, and what does insurance cover?

"Shockwave therapy cost per session" and "how many sessions" are the two most typed questions about ESWT. Here they are up front.

Priced per session

Shockwave is a self pay service priced per session. We quote the full course at the free consultation so Lady Lake patients know the total before the first visit. No packages, no memberships.

Three to five for an elbow

Tennis and golfer's elbow usually need three to five weekly sessions. Achilles, shoulders and hips run four to six. The tendon keeps improving for weeks after the last one.

Insurance and Medicare

Neither covers ESWT, here or almost anywhere in the US. If acupuncture or needling is part of your plan, many insurance plans cover those visits and we check yours first.

Insurance and payment details.

For reference, consumer cost guides put a single acupuncture visit in the United States at roughly $50 to $150, and we quote your own course in writing at the free consultation. Source: Money.com guide to alternative medicine costs.

ESWT For Tennis Elbow

Why an elbow that rested for months still hurts.

Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow are tendinopathy at the point where the forearm tendons attach to the bone. After a few months the tendon is no longer inflamed; it has stopped remodelling. Rest calms it, and the first week back to normal use brings it straight back. Bracing and ice treat a problem the tendon no longer has.

Shockwave delivers acoustic pressure waves into the attachment, which the tendon reads as a new, controlled injury. Blood vessels grow back in, collagen-producing cells switch on, and the repair that stalled restarts. The elbow is shallow and easy to target, which is one reason it responds so reliably.

Most Lady Lake patients keep using the arm through the series with small adjustments. Tendons rebuild in response to load; we tell you how much. Full tennis and golfer's elbow page.

Beyond The Elbow

What else ESWT is used for near Lady Lake.

Orthopedic tendon and fascia problems only. We do not offer shockwave for erectile dysfunction or kidney stones, which are different devices and different clinics.

A Session

Ten minutes, then back to Lady Lake.

01

Find the spot

Dr. Cheshire examines the elbow and the forearm muscles pulling on it, then marks the tendon attachment. Gel goes on.

02

Five to ten minutes of tapping

A firm, rapid pulse through the applicator. You feel it. The intensity is adjustable and most people tolerate it easily.

03

Walk out

No downtime. Expect the elbow to be sore for a day; that is the response we want.

04

Same time next week

Three to five sessions, with a loading program between them. Needling the forearm in the same visit is common.

Is This You, Lady Lake?

ESWT is likely to help if:

  • The elbow, heel, Achilles or shoulder has hurt for three months or more.
  • Rest, a brace, stretching or a cortisone shot gave temporary relief at best.
  • Gripping, lifting a kettle or the first steps in the morning are the worst moments.
  • You want to keep playing while it heals.
  • You would rather rebuild the tendon than numb it.

We screen first. No shockwave over infection, fresh fracture, open growth plates or tumors; extra care with blood thinners. If your pain is a nerve or a joint surface, shockwave is the wrong tool and we say so.

Common Questions

What do Lady Lake patients ask about shockwave therapy?

Per session, with the full course of three to six quoted at the free consultation. It is self pay. Call 352-430-2720 for the number for your tendon. Every therapy is priced on its own and the whole course is quoted in writing at the free 20 minute consultation, with no program fee and no membership.
A firm, rapid tapping for five to ten minutes. Adjustable, and tolerable for most. Soreness for a day afterward is normal. Dr. Cheshire reviews your medications, including blood thinners, before the first treatment, and anything injectable is supervised by Dr. Phipps, MD.
Chronic lateral epicondylitis is one of the two conditions shockwave devices are FDA cleared for, and trials show better pain and grip strength than sham. It works on tendons that have stalled; a fresh strain usually needs only rest and needling.
Usually yes, with adjustments to volume and grip that we go through with you. Tendons rebuild under load.
No. Shockwave is self pay. Acupuncture and needling visits in the same plan are covered by many plans, which we confirm for you by phone. Bring your card to the free consultation and we confirm the benefit, the visit cap and your copay before anything is booked.
Change is often felt by the second or third session, and the tendon keeps improving for two to three months after the series ends. Progress is scored against measurements taken at the first visit, and the plan is changed or stopped if the numbers have not moved by the checkpoint.
