Integrative Medicine for Wildwood, FL
"Is integrative medicine covered by insurance" is the question Wildwood patients type before they ever call a clinic, and it has a precise answer: insurance never covers integrative medicine as a category, because insurers do not recognize the label. They cover individual therapies, with conditions. So the useful question is which therapies in your plan your card pays for, and that is something we check for you before the first appointment rather than discover at the front desk. Integrative medicine near Wildwood, FL at this practice combines acupuncture, trigger point injections, shockwave, laser therapy, cupping, peptides, NAD+ and supplements under a board certified acupuncture physician and a medical doctor, twelve to eighteen minutes from Wildwood.

Therapy By Therapy
What insurance and Medicare actually cover in an integrative plan.
General rules for the plans we see from Wildwood. Your card is the final word, and we read it before you come in.
Usually covered: acupuncture
Most commercial plans and many Advantage plans include acupuncture, typically with an annual visit cap in the range of twelve to twenty and sometimes a diagnosis requirement such as back pain or migraine. Dry needling and electroacupuncture are billed as acupuncture.
Sometimes covered: cupping and injections
Cupping is covered by some plans as a manual therapy and excluded by others. Trigger point injections depend on the plan and the diagnosis; a few cover the injection but not the product.
Rarely covered: shockwave and laser therapy
Shockwave and laser therapy, including low level laser and Kineon, are equipment based and nearly always self pay. HSA and FSA cards can be used.
Not covered: peptides, NAD+, supplements
Peptide therapy, NAD+ and professional supplements are self pay everywhere we know of. They are added to a plan only when there is a specific reason, and priced before you agree.
Medicare Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3, specifically. Since 2020 Original Medicare covers acupuncture for chronic low back pain only: pain lasting twelve weeks or more with no identifiable systemic cause Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3 Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3, up to twelve visits in ninety days and eight more if you are improving, delivered under physician supervision. Where it applies you pay the Part B deductible and then 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount. Nothing else on this page is covered by Original Medicare Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3. Many Advantage plans sold in Sumter County add a wider acupuncture benefit, and we call to confirm it.
Why It Still Adds Up
Building a plan around what your card pays for.
Knowing coverage before the plan is written changes the plan. If your acupuncture benefit is good, the covered line carries the early weeks and the self pay lines are added only where they do a job acupuncture cannot, such as shockwave on a tendon that has stopped responding or laser therapy on a swollen joint. If nothing is covered, we build the shortest course likely to work and set the checkpoint early so you are not paying to find out slowly.
What we will not do is choose therapies by what is billable. The evidence decides the plan and the coverage decides the cost. Acupuncture for chronic pain has the strongest record of anything here, a pooled analysis of about 18,000 patients Source: Vickers et al., Archives of Internal Medicine, 2012 (29 trials, 17,922 patients), which is part of why insurers pay for it. Shockwave is well supported for plantar fasciitis and tendinopathy despite being self pay. Laser therapy evidence is mixed. Peptide data is mostly animal and NAD+ outcome studies are thin. You hear this before any self pay line goes on the quote.
What To Expect

Free consultation, then your card

Exam and records
A hands-on exam and a read of your imaging, operative notes and medication list, with a plain English explanation.
A quote that already shows coverage
The written plan lists each therapy, its visit count, what your plan reduces and what remains self pay. No surprises at checkout.

We track your covered visits against the cap and score your progress at two to four weeks, so the benefit is spent where it is working.

Your insurance card, your Medicare or Advantage card if you have one Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3, and a referral only if your plan requires it for acupuncture. We do not need a referral to see you.
Visits from Wildwood
Twelve to eighteen minutes each way. Two therapies share one appointment, so a typical course is one trip a week at the start, then fewer.

For reference, consumer cost guides put a single acupuncture visit in the United States at roughly $50 to $150, and we quote your own course in writing at the free consultation.
