Cost First

How much does arthritis treatment cost for Lady Lake patients, and what does insurance cover?

The needling visit is the base charge

Everything else is added to it. A good share of Lady Lake patients have a plan that pays for acupuncture, and cupping and dry needling ride inside that visit at no extra charge. Phone with your card and we read you the copay. Paying yourself, the first appointment runs longer because of the exam and costs more; the follow-ups are shorter and cheaper.

Laser is the usual add-on

Charged per session, cheaper as a block of sessions, cheaper still when it rides inside a needling visit, which is how we treat most worn joints. Nobody's insurance pays for laser on arthritis, whatever a brochure implies.

Injections are the occasional add-on

Charged per injection, usually two or three around one joint, and only when the joint improves with needling and laser but slides back between visits. Zeel, not cortisone.

Medicare, plainly

Original Medicare pays for acupuncture on one condition only Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3, a chronic low back, and pays nothing toward laser or injections for a joint. Several Advantage plans do include an acupuncture benefit; tell us which plan you hold and we check it before anything is booked.

Visits run weekly for the first month and then stretch to every two to four weeks as the joint settles, which means a plan that is working gets cheaper month by month. You hear the whole number at the free consultation. Call 352-430-2720. Insurance and payment details.

For reference, consumer cost guides put a single acupuncture visit in the United States at roughly $50 to $150, and we quote your own course in writing at the free consultation. Source: Money.com guide to alternative medicine costs.

What You Are Paying For

The pain is not only the cartilage.

A worn joint has four things going on besides the worn surface: a lining that has become inflamed, muscles around it that have clenched and wasted, a capsule that has shrunk tight, and a nervous system that has turned the volume up. Nearly all of the day-to-day ache comes from those four, which explains the familiar puzzle of a terrible x-ray on someone who walks fine and a mild one on someone who cannot do stairs. Working on the four changes how the joint feels while the picture stays the same. No one here will tell you cartilage grows back.

Each of the four has a price tag because each has a tool. The clenched muscle and the volume get needling; the inflamed lining gets laser; the shrunken capsule gets cupping; a joint that will not stay settled gets a point injection. If the exam does not find one of the four, you do not pay for its tool. Full arthritis page.

Worth It?

The trial record before you spend anything.

What the knee trials found

When ten randomized trials were pooled in 2024, 3,221 people with worn knees Source: Chen et al., Current Pain and Headache Reports, 2024 (10 trials, 3,221 participants), the ones who had real needling reported less pain and better function than the ones who had sham needling, and the gap was still there four and a half months after the last session. A larger pooling of about 18,000 people with long-term pain Source: Vickers et al., Archives of Internal Medicine, 2012 (29 trials, 17,922 patients), worn joints included, came to the same answer against both sham and ordinary care.

How that shapes what you pay for

Needling comes first because it has the trial record; laser, cupping and injections are added one at a time as the exam finds a reason. Progress is judged on your own stairs, walking distance, morning stiffness and swelling, written down at the first visit. We do not sell blocks of sessions and we do not quote a success rate.

What To Expect

What happens at the first arthritis treatment visit for Lady Lake patients?

01

Coverage checked, then a free consult

You know the visit cost and what each therapy would add before you come in. Twenty minutes, free, no referral.

02

Confirm what is arthritic

Tendon, bursa and referred pain masquerade as joint pain. Dr. Cheshire examines the joint and the chain around it, reads any imaging, and screens for the inflammatory pattern that needs rheumatology.

03

Weekly for the first month

Needling and laser in one visit, cupping for the capsule, injections only if the joint will not hold. Keep moving between visits; joints stiffen fast with rest.

04

Every two to four weeks as it settles

Stairs, distance, morning stiffness and swelling are the markers. If the plan is not working we adjust it or say when a surgical opinion is the right next step.

Is This You, Lady Lake?

Worth the cost when:

  • A joint has ached and stiffened for months and is limiting what you do.
  • You have been quoted a package elsewhere and want it priced therapy by therapy.
  • You are trying to delay or avoid a joint replacement.
  • Anti-inflammatories or cortisone help for a while and the pain returns.
  • You would rather work on the joint than oorganize your life around it.

Urgent care for a joint that is hot, red and swollen with fever. Rheumatology for several joints swelling together with morning stiffness lasting hours. We screen for both at the consultation.

Common Questions

What do Lady Lake patients ask about arthritis treatment?

Acupuncture per visit, often covered by insurance; laser per session; injections per injection; cupping included. Only the therapies the exam calls for. The plan is quoted at the free consultation. Call 352-430-2720. Every therapy is priced on its own and the whole course is quoted in writing at the free 20 minute consultation, with no program fee and no membership.
Original Medicare covers acupuncture only for chronic low back pain, not arthritic joints, and does not cover laser or injections. Some Advantage plans include acupuncture; we check yours. Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3. Bring your card to the free consultation and we confirm the benefit, the visit cap and your copay before anything is booked.
No. Per visit and per therapy, with visits spacing out as the joint settles.
Different. Cortisone is limited to a few shots a year and quiets the lining for weeks; this treats the lining, the muscle and the capsule and can be repeated. We do not inject cortisone into the joint.
The pooled knee trials say yes, by a modest margin, against sham needling, with the gain still present months later. That is why it is the base of the plan rather than an add-on. We state the limits of the evidence as plainly as the results, and measure your own progress from the first visit rather than quoting success rates.
Once a week for the first four, then the gap widens to a fortnight and then a month as the joint holds. The plan is cheaper in month three than in month one if it is working. Progress is scored against measurements taken at the first visit, and the plan is changed or stopped if the numbers have not moved by the checkpoint.
No, and nothing you can buy does. The ache lives in the lining, the muscle and the capsule, and those are what the money goes toward.
