Integrative Medicine for Leesburg, FL
Most people who search for integrative medicine in Leesburg, Florida, the Lake County one, have the same file folder: an orthopedic visit, a physical therapy discharge, a pain management script, maybe a chiropractor, and nobody who has read all of it at once. Integrative medicine at this practice means one written plan. A board certified acupuncture physician and a medical doctor work out of the same suite, read the same records, and decide together which of eight therapies belong in your plan: acupuncture, trigger point injections, shockwave, laser therapy, cupping, peptides, NAD+ and a short supplement list. Nothing is sold as a program. The clinic is about twenty minutes north of Leesburg on US 27, and the first twenty minute consultation is free.
Led by Dr. Christopher Cheshire, MS, AP, LAc, DOM, NCCAOM board certified, 22 years in The Villages. Medical oversight by Dr. Thomas Phipps, MD. Meet the providers
In short: Integrative medicine for Leesburg, FL: one plan from an MD and an acupuncture physician instead of five offices. 20 minutes away. Free consult. Integrative medicine at this practice means one written plan. Nothing is sold as a program. One Plan
What "one coordinated plan" actually means in practice.
The phrase is on every clinic website. Here is the mechanical version, so you can judge whether it is real.
One file, read by both
Your imaging, your operative notes, your medication list and your previous therapy discharge are reviewed by Dr. Cheshire and by Dr. Phipps before anything is proposed. If the MRI and the exam disagree, we say which one we trust and why.
One written sequence
The plan names the therapies, the order, the number of visits before the first checkpoint and the price of each line. Two therapies usually share one appointment, so a Leesburg patient is not driving up twice a week.
One person accountable
Dr. Cheshire runs the plan. Injectables and anything medically supervised go through Dr. Phipps, who is in the building rather than on a referral pad. When something is outside what we do, the referral goes out the same week with the file attached.
What integrative does not mean here. It does not mean replacing your cardiologist, stopping a prescription, or a twelve month membership. Your primary care physician stays your primary care physician. We send notes when you ask us to.
The Therapies
Eight tools, sorted by the job they do.
Settle the nervous system and the pain signal. Acupuncture, including orthopedic and dry needling styles, is the therapy most Leesburg insurance plans recognize. Cupping releases the fascia that keeps a back or shoulder guarded.
Restart tissue that has stopped healing. Shockwave for tendons, heels and calcified shoulders. Laser therapy, low level laser and Kineon, for inflamed joints and nerve pain. Trigger point and acupuncture injections for the knots and nerve entrapments that keep coming back.
Support repair from the inside. Peptide therapy under physician prescription for recovery that has slowed with age, NAD+ for the fatigue that stops people doing their rehab, and a short supplement list rather than a cupboard.
Evidence, with the limits attached: acupuncture for chronic pain outperformed sham and usual care in a pooled analysis of about 18,000 patients Source: Vickers et al., Archives of Internal Medicine, 2012 (29 trials, 17,922 patients). Shockwave has solid trial support for plantar fasciitis and several tendinopathies Source: Sun et al., Medicine, 2017 (9 placebo-controlled trials, 935 patients). Laser therapy results are mixed and dose dependent. Peptide data is mostly animal. NAD+ precursors raise blood NAD+ reliably, with outcome studies still thin. You hear which tier each line of your plan sits on before you pay for it.
What To Expect
What happens at the first integrative medicine visit for Leesburg patients?
Free twenty minute consultation
Dr. Cheshire listens, asks what has already been tried, and tells you straight whether integrative care is the right door. No referral is needed to book it.
The exam and the records
A hands-on exam plus a read of whatever your Leesburg doctors have already ordered. We explain the imaging in plain English and say what it does and does not explain.
The plan, in writing
Usually two or three therapies, combined in one visit where possible, with a cost per line and a checkpoint date. Most people start weekly and taper.
Checkpoints that decide
At two to four weeks we score you against your start: pain, range, what you can do again. Continue, adjust, or stop. A plan that is not moving is changed, not extended.
Cost and Insurance
How much does integrative medicine cost for Leesburg patients, and what does insurance cover?
Priced per therapy
There is no consultation fee, no program fee and no membership. Each therapy in the plan carries its own price and its own visit count, quoted as a course so the total is known before you start.
Insurance
Coverage depends on the therapy, not on the word integrative. Acupuncture is covered by many Leesburg plans. Shockwave, laser therapy, peptides and NAD+ are self pay. We check your plan before the first appointment.
Medicare
Original Medicare pays for acupuncture only for chronic low back pain Source: CMS National Coverage Determination 30.3.3, within visit limits, and for none of the other therapies. Some Advantage plans add an acupuncture benefit; bring the card and we confirm it.
The first 20 minute consultation is free and no referral is needed. Call 352-430-2720. For reference, consumer cost guides put a single acupuncture visit in the United States at roughly $50 to $150, and we quote your own course in writing at the free consultation. Is This You, Leesburg?
Bring the folder nobody has read in full.
- A knee, shoulder, back or heel that has been through two or more offices without a plan that connects them.
- A surgery date you would like to avoid or at least postpone with something more than rest.
- A pain prescription you would rather taper than renew.
- Recovery from an injury or procedure that has stalled.
- Fatigue or poor sleep that is stopping you doing the rehab you were given.
A physician or the emergency room first for sudden severe pain, fever with a hot swollen joint, new weakness or numbness, chest symptoms, or any change in bladder or bowel control. Those are not integrative problems and we will say so on the phone.
